The engineers at Nissan did an excellent job designing the VR38DETT, but they likely never imagined the power levels Godzilla would be making today. Adding RPM or upgrading to large turbos puts a strain on the factory oiling system, which can and will lead to catastrophic failure. As engine and tire technology reach new heights, the G-forces an engine experiences have increased dramatically, pushing the factory oiling system past its limits.
